Altman: GPT-5.6 approved after consultation with Trump administration
OpenAI CEO Altman stated that the company had consulted with the Trump administration and made multiple adjustments before releasing GPT-5.6 to the public. OpenAI had collaborative communication with US Commerce Secretary Lutnik and Treasury Secretary Besant prior to its release. At the request of the government, GPT-5.6 was released in stages, initially only open to specific partners. After obtaining approval from the US government leadership, GPT-5.6 is scheduled to be open to the public on Thursday. Altman stated that the government is testing new models and identifying potential issues.
