Arvind Krishna: IBM expects quantum computing to contribute revenue in 2028-2029, with a long-term scale of trillions of dollars

--

According to CoinDesk, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna stated that quantum computing is expected to bring revenue and profits to IBM in 2028 or 2029, and release approximately trillions of dollars in value by the end of the 2030s. IBM, along with Alphabet, IonQ, Rigetti Computing, and other companies, are accelerating the development of quantum hardware and software, with the goal of solving problems that traditional computers find difficult to handle in areas such as material simulation, supply chain optimization, new materials, and drug development. IBM has explored new material properties using quantum computing and partnered with the US Department of Commerce's CHIPS program to build an independent quantum chip foundry, with a total investment of approximately $2 billion.
