According to CBS News, the new state law banning cryptocurrency ATMs in Minnesota will take effect on August 1st, and related devices must be taken offline before August 1st and removed by the end of the year. There are currently 8 companies operating approximately 350 licensed cryptocurrency ATMs in the state. According to an investigation by the State Department of Commerce, 134 related complaints between 2023 and 2025 resulted in Minnesota residents losing nearly $1 million, with most transaction funds flowing overseas. After the ban is implemented, residents can still engage in cryptocurrency trading through regulated online platforms.
